Monday 25th January

Daily plans for Monday 25th January 2021

25.1.21   *REMEMBER YOUR CHALLENGE AND TO DIP INTO YOUR ‘MY FAMOUS VICTORIAN’ PROJECT

MORNING

1. Maths

1. Today we are learning about multiplying by 10 and multiplying by 100.  I would like you to watch 2 White Rose Learning Videos.  The first is about multiplying by 10 (link vimeo.com/474984652) and the second is multiplying by 100 (link vimeo.com/474984809).  I have not attached any worksheets today as I want you to work through these videos.  Please remember to pause the video when you need to do calculations and give yourself plenty of time. Also remember that the answers are always given by the person who is presenting the videos. Remember to also show any of your working out.

2.  English

1. Here are our new spellings for the week.  This week we are learning to spell words that contain ‘sign’.  Copy out each of our new spellings neatly, 5 times each, to help you learn the spellings and as a Handwriting activity. To help you learn the spellings write them as a ‘Spelling Pyramid’.   Remember how you must join up your letters: sign   resign   resignation   signal   assignment   design   redesign   signature

Now put each spelling into a sentence to show that you understand the meaning of each word.  If you are unsure of the meaning of a word remember to look it up in a dictionary.

Can you include a subordinate clause?

Can you put a comparative conjunction in your sentence, for example as well as, also, equally, similarly, likewise?

Can you use a contrasting conjunction, for example, alternatively, although, whereas, while, in contrast, however, despite?

Can you write a relative clause using a relative pronoun, for example that, who, whom, which, whatever, where?

Can you include some speech marks in your sentences?

What other words for ‘said’ can you use? For example, answered, replied, shouted, whispered, sighed, shrieked.  ‘Street Child’ is full of dialogue and has many examples in the text.  Remember to use a range of punctuation.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INCLUDE ALL OF THESE IN EACH SENTENCE.

2.  Now start the final activity in your ‘Talk for Writing’ Booklet on page 23.  Please choose one of the writing choices presented as bullet points for Activity 17: extension writing choices.

AFTERNOON

3.  Reading

Please remember to read independently for 40 minutes!  I have uploaded a Learning Video of me reading Chapters 6 and 7 of ‘Street Child’.  I would like you to follow the text as I read, please.  You can then read it independently. This is the link:

4.  RE

Please join Father John’s Google Meet at 1.30 today so we can tap into his knowledge about Moses and why God chose him to lead his people out of Egypt. After this, finish session 2 of the Diocese plans.  You may find your Moses power point slides and your story board helpful.
