Term 4 Week 5

Here is an outline of your learning for term 4, week 5:

Term 4 Week 5 – overview

On Monday we will be lucky enough to be going to the Trinity to watch The Wild Robot.

On Friday, we will be taking part in a whole-school-sponsored walk to raise money for our ‘show in a week’, Alice in Wonderland.  We have started listening to the songs and are all feeling very excited.  This show is a fantastic experience, and we hope to raise lots of money towards it this Friday!

Each week we are fortunate to have a ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence.  This year, this will take place on a Monday afternoon.  Instruments are provided by the school.

Spelling and grammar –we will be practising a set of homophones.

In English, we will be starting work on an information text on the water cycle.  This will link our learning in both science and English.  We will be learning about the water cycle itself and also the key features of an information text.

In Maths, we will be converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, looking at equivalent fractions on a number line and identifying equivalent fraction families.

In Science, we will be learning about changes to states.

In Geography, we will be identifying European capital cities.

PE is on Monday morning with Mrs Barter and on a Thursday afternoon with Mrs Tompsett.   This term we are going to be focusing on fundamental skills and net games in tennis.

Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due on the following Monday.
