Term 2 Week 2
Here is an outline of your learning for term 2, week 2:
Term 2 Week 2 – overview
This week, we do not have a ukulele lesson, but we will be creating art to mark Remembrance Day using photographs I took on a trip to the battlefields of the Somme.
On Tuesday afternoon, we will be going to the Trinity Theatre to watch a film!
Spelling and grammar –we will be spelling words with the prefixes il and im. We will also be working on using adverbials.
In English, we will be editing our completed stories based on Escape from Pompeii. In pairs, we will look at spelling, punctuation, grammar and strong vocabulary. We will then be writing our corrected stories up neatly, designing book covers and publishing our stories for our class library!
In Maths, we will work on checking strategies for addition and subtraction, we will complete an end of unit assessment and then move on to a short unit on calculating area.
In RE, we will continue with our unit on Incarnation, asking the question, ‘what is the Trinity?’ Over the course of the unit, we will investigate the similarities between John’s account of the Gospel and the writing in Genesis. This week we will look at chunks of text from Genesis and John 1.
In History, we are going to be examining Boudicca’s revolt against the Romans, the effects of her revolt and the different historical perspectives on this.
In Computing, the pupils will be looking at sound recording and editing.
PE is on Monday morning with Mrs Barter and on a Thursday afternoon with Mrs Tompsett. This term we are going to be focusing on hockey and yoga.
Reading records will be sent home with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due on the following Monday.
