Term 6 Week 4

Here is an outline of your learning for term 6, week 4:

Term 6 Week 4 – overview

Reading challenge – we have made a visual display to track our home reading.  Each week when reading records are checked, every child who brings their record (completed with their weekly reading)will earn a star.  Remember that 10 minutes’ of reading each day makes a huge difference to overall literacy and especially expanding vocabulary!

Our ukulele lesson will take place on Tuesday morning with Mr Lawrence.

Spelling and grammar –we will be revising words from the Year 3 and 4 statutory list.

We will be completing assessments in reading this week.

We are now using English lessons to learn lines and rehearse for our show: Peter Pan.  Thank you for your support in helping your child learn lines and song words.

In Maths, we are moving on from fractions to learn about decimals, beginning with decimals as tenths, tenths on a place value charts, tenths on a number ine and dividing a 2-digit number by 10.

In Science, we will continue our unit on animals and their habitats.  This week, we will be learning about classifying vertebrates.

In RE, we continue our unit on the Hindu religion by learning about the festival of Holi and how it is celebrated.

In Computing, pupils are working on repetition in shapes using the Scratch program.

In DT, we will be completing our architecture and construction project by adding the finishing touches to our house designs.

PE is on MONDAY MORNING (Mrs Barter and Mr Thornton) and THURSDAY AFTERNOON (Mrs Tompsett and Mr Thornton).

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class or from the reading scheme.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due on the following Monday.
