Term 3 Week 2
Here is an outline of your learning for term 3, week 2:
Term 3 Week 2 – overview
Reading challenge – we have made a visual display to track our home reading. Each week when reading records are checked, every child who brings their record (completed with their weekly reading)will earn a star. Remember that 10 minutes' reading each day makes a huge difference to overall literacy and especially expanding vocabulary!
This week, we will be carrying out some progress checks in maths, reading and writing.
Spelling and grammar –we will be practising a selection of spelling words with the ssion ending.
We will be reading, discussing and answering questions on our new guided reading text, Lob. Lob is the story of a mysterious, mostly unseen helper in grandad’s garden. It is a real celebration of nature.
In Maths, we will continue our unit on multiplication and division with a focus on the 7 times table.
In RE, our new unit of focus is ‘Gospel’ and we will be considering the big question, ‘What kind of world did Jesus want?’ This week, we will be thinking of the story of the good Samaritan and considering ‘who is my neighbour?’
In Science, we will complete our unit on electricity by summing up our learning on appliances, electrical safety, circuits and their components.
PE is on MONDAY MORNING and THURSDAY AFTERNOON with Mr Luckhurst.
Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class or from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due in on the following Monday.
Please contact me if you have any queries using the class email address:chestnut@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk
