Here is an outline of your learning for term 1 week 7
Term 1 Week 7– overview
We have our usual Monday morning ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence.
Spelling and grammar – we will be practising spellings from the Year 3 and 4 statutory list, along with other focus spelling words highlighted in our latest writing. We will continue to revise using apostrophes for possession with singular nouns.
In English we are continuing to write our own versions of Escape from Pompeii. We have 3 more sections to write before we peer review them and see what corrections and improvements can be made. We will be designing book covers and publishing our stories once they have been written up neatly.
In Maths we be finishing our unit on place value by rounding numbers to the nearest thousand. We will then revisit rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 and complete an end of unit assessment.
We will complete our guided reading work on The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. Next term we will be reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.
In RE we will end our unit on Creation by revisiting the big question: What does the creation story tell Christians?
Mrs Tompsett will be teaching Science on Thursday afternoons. This term begins with a unit on sound.
In art we will be mixing colour palettes based on the tones used by Giorgio Morandi.
PE is on MONDAY MORNING and THURSDAY AFTERNOON with Mr Luckhurst.
Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.
Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due in on the following Monday.
