Term 4, week 6

Last week was such a busy week! We had a great time at the Trinity, watching the Wild Robot and Friday’s sponsored walk was a huge success!
In Whole Class Reading this week we will continue reading Alice in Wonderland, the abridged version. This is in preparation for our Show in a Week after Easter. We will share the text as a class and in groups, and look at vocabulary, comprehension and inference. We will also be learning the songs.
In English, we will continue planning and writing our own stories, based on The King of the Sky. The emphasis will be on descriptive writing and using direct speech.
Maths will continue with the second multiplication and division unit, focusing on multiplying a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number, this week looking at exchanges and linking multiplication and division.
In Art, we will be finishing our portrait unit. The children's portraits are looking good so far.
In our Geography topic work, we will continue looking at the United Kingdom, focusing on volcanoes and earthquakes.
PE is on a Monday and Friday again this term, and we will be continuing the tennis unit, so please make sure your child has their PE kit in school.
Homework is issued on a Tuesday and due back the following Monday. If you have any questions about the homework, or if your child is having difficulty completing the work, please email, or leave a note in the homework book.
Reading Records can come in every day, but should always be sent in on a Monday and Thursday. Books will be changed on those days, but we will also do our best to change books every day if necessary. If you have any questions about your child’s reading level, please get in touch.
If you have any questions at any point in the year, please email on the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.
Kind regards
Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
