Term 3, week 2
I was very impressed with how the children settled back into school after the holidays. They have been working hard and making great progress. This week will look a little different, as we have baseline assessments to complete. We will therefore not be completing our normal maths and English lessons, but will still have other subjects in the afternoons, including PE as normal.
Our Whole Class Reading this week will be using the lyrics from the song ‘Count on me’, by Bruno Mars, looking at vocabulary and answering comprehension questions. I am sure there will be plenty of singing too!
In Science, we will focus on comparing and identifying rocks.
In Art, we will be starting a new unit this week, looking at portraits and different options to create a self-portrait.
In our Geography topic work, we will continue looking at the United Kingdom.
PE is on a Monday and Friday this term, and we will be continuing gymnastics this week. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school. Please also note, gymnastics is completed bare footed, so socks are an essential additional item if wearing tights.
Homework is issued on a Tuesday and due back the following Monday. If you have any questions about the homework, or if your child is having difficulty completing the work, please email, or leave a note in the homework book.
Reading Records can come in every day, but should always be sent in on a Monday and Thursday. Books will be changed on those days, but we will also do our best to change books every day if necessary. If you have any questions about your child’s reading level, please do get in touch.
If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.
Kind regards
Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
