Term 2, week 5

As per the email sent out at the end of last week, this is a reminder that Maple class will be making 'goodie bags' for the Christmas fair and need any 'party bag' items or sweets to fill the bags. We would be grateful for any donations of wrapped sweets, bags of sweets or small gifts/toys please.

Also, we are looking for help to run the class stall, either during the afternoon or after school (or both!).

Please send your donations in by next Friday, 6th December and email the Maple email if you can help on the day.

Many thanks in advance.

In English this week, we will finish the Stone Aged-themed poems and perform our own free-verse poetry.

Our Whole Class Reading this week will be continuing to use our ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ advent calendar, to investigate some inspiring people from around the world.  We will be discussing each mini book, looking at vocabulary and answering comprehension questions. So far, we have read about Dolly Parton, Martin Luther King, Amelia Earhart, Stephen Hawking, Jane Austen and Aretha Franklin!

In Maths, we are continuing the Addition and Subtraction unit, focusing on subtracting across 10 and 100.

In Science, we will continue the nutrition and diet unit, this week designing healthy snacks.

PE is on a Monday and Friday this term, and we will be starting Yoga this week. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school.

Homework is issued on a Tuesday and due back the following Monday. If you have any questions about the homework, or if your child is having difficulty completing the work, please email, or leave a note in the homework book.

Reading Records can come in every day, but should always be sent in on a Monday and Thursday. Books will be changed on those days, but we will also do our best to change books every day if necessary. If you have any questions about your child’s reading level, please do get in touch.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
