Term 1, week 7

It is Parent Consultation week, and I am looking forward to meeting with you all. If you haven’t already done so, please log onto Arbor to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please email the class email, and we can organise something for after the half-term break.

In English this week, we will be writing our own stories, based on the book, Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura.

Our Whole Class Reading this week will be reading Henry Pond the Poet, by Dick King Smith. We will be discussing the text, looking at vocabulary and answering comprehension questions.

In Maths we are continuing with Place Value, and this week we will be focusing on comparing and ordering numbers to one thousand, and counting in 50s.

We will continue our Stone Age Topic work this week, investigating the changes which occurred as the Stone Age moved into the Bronze Age.

Last week in Science, we compared human bones to the bones of a variety of animals. This week, we will be investigating joints and how we move.

In Design Technology, we will start planning our Christmas/Holiday light decoration.

PE is on a Monday and Friday this term, and we will be continuing the netball unit. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
