Term 1, week 6

We had a great time at the Southborough Civic Centre, seeing Atom and Luna. The children all seemed to enjoy the show and their behaviour during the trip was impeccable.

In English this week, we will be continuing the writing unit based on the book, Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. Focusing this week on descriptive writing, we will be creating a fictional postcard.

Our Whole Class Reading this week will be investigating ‘Broken Bones’, using a non-fiction text. We will be discussing the text, looking at vocabulary and answering comprehension questions.

In Maths, the main unit is Place Value, and this week we will be focusing on flexible partitioning of numbers to 1,000.

We will continue our Stone Age topic work this week, investigating what life was like for Neolithic farmers.

Last week in science, we took another look at human skeletons. This week, we will further compare human bones to the bones of a variety of animals.

In Design Technology, we will start thinking about our Christmas/Holiday light decoration.

PE is on a Monday and Friday this term, and we will be continuing the netball unit. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please do email on the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards
