Term 6, week 2

Term 6. Week 2

Thank you to everyone who has sent in recycled materials for the Peter Pan props. There is still time to send some in and any donations would be very much appreciated. An email was sent out to all parents/carers, but here is a list of those items needed:

Cardboard tubes (loo rolls are best, otherwise kitchen roll tubes work well)

Packaging in shades of green to make leaves (must be flat and able to cut with scissors, food packaging etc)

Paper cups

Plastic bottles

Bottle containers

Sweet wrappers

Paper plates

Egg boxes

Yoghurt pots

Lollipop sticks

English and Maths: This week we will be doing some assessments, so the week will look a little different. These assessments will cover writing, reading, spellings, times tables and both arithmetic and reasoning in maths.

Whole Class Reading: We will be using the Whole Class Reading time to begin learning our songs for the Peter Pan show – further details will be being sent out soon! We will investigate the lyrics and discuss some of the vocabulary.

Mrs Banner will be teaching our RE on Friday as usual. There will be a spelling test, computing, and further elements of the maths curriculum. Mrs Banner is currently covering ‘time’ with the class.

In the wider curriculum this week, we will be investigating time, in science. In Time and Place, the unit will continue with an in-depth study of Tutankhamun. In art we will begin our final choice of portraits, making decisions about which medium to use and size etc. In Music, we will continue with the body percussion sequence.

PE: In PE, we will be introducing the athletics unit, together with the specific events for Sports Day.

Swimming, as usual, will be on Tuesday.

The children will need full PE kit, swimming costume/trunks, a towel, swimming cap - this is required by the swimming pool, and goggles (although these are optional). There will also be occasions when we do additional PE sessions, so please can the children have their PE kit in school all week. Please remind the children to bring all their kit, including a towel!

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
