This Week's Learning
Term 2 Week 1
In English and Communication this week we are going to focus on creating the next stage of our Samuel Pepys diary entry. We are going to use our descriptive writing skills as well as our historical understanding to recount what happened when Pepys left his house.
In Phonics we are going to focus on adding -es to words ending in 'y'. Our tricky words are 'autumn' and 'gone'. Our grammar focus is plural nouns.
In Maths, we are going to focus on adding and subtracting 1s to/from single and 2-digit numbers. We will also explore bridging through 10 to help us complete addition and subtraction problems.
In Science, we will focus on everyday materials. We will explore how solid materials can be squashed, bent, stretched and twisted. We will test different materials and record our findings. Finally, we will use our understanding of material properties to decide if particular materials are suitable for specific purposes.
In PE, we will begin to learn to play sending and receiving games.
We will also complete Guided Reading, Mastering Number, RE and Design and the Arts lessons. We will also record the first lines for our Nativity play.
