This Week's Learning
Term 5 Week 2
In English and Communication this week we are focusing on adding additional detail to the basic sentences that we created last week. We are focusing on adding descriptive sentences which explain what our hero can see and how she feels.
In Phonics, we are using 'o' to make the /u/ sound- for example brother, son, above, wonder, worry, glove, cover, month. The common exception words will be 'group' and 'country'.
The grammar focus will be to use alternative words for 'said'.
In Maths, we will focus on the 10 times table. We will also then focus on measuring temperature and how to read scales. Finally, we will use the 'finding the difference' technique to compare temperatures.
In Time and Place, we will be exploring the developments in castle construction between the 11th and 16th centuries. We will also be comparing and contrasting two local castles- Tonbridge Castle and Bodiam Castle.
In Science and Computing, we are writing a scientific conclusion for the plants investigation that we completed last term.
We will also complete Sport, Exercise and Health, Design and the Arts, Mastering Number, Guided Reading and Wellbeing lessons as well.
If you would like to find out more about any of these activities, please do not hesitate to contact us using the class email address.
