Term 1 Week 7

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 21st October 2024.

This week there are parent consultations on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (in the hall) after school. Please sign up on Arbor if you have not already done so. If you are unable to attend on those days, please speak to Mrs Pring, and she will try to sort out an alternative day to meet with you.

We have reached the final week of this term, and it has been lovely to see how the children have settled into the Year 1 routines.

In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write words containing the ‘oy’ digraph (such as boy, toy and royal). We will also be reading the words ‘would’ and ‘want’ and writing the words ‘have’ and ‘like’.

In Maths, we are learning about number fact families, number bonds within 10 and how to work systematically to find all the possible answers to a maths problem.

This week in English and Art we will be looking at a book called ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds and will be recounting part of the story.

In Science, we will be continuing our work on everyday materials and seasonal changes.

If you have any questions or need help with anything, please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
