Term 1 Week 3
Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 23rd September 2024.
In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write simple sentences containing CVCC, CCVC and CCVCC words such as ‘nest, ‘flag’ and ‘crabs’. We will practise reading this week’s tricky words ‘were’, ‘there’, ‘little' and ‘one’. We will also be learning to write the words ‘they’, ‘are’ and ‘all’.
In English this week, we are going to focus on the wordless book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. We will be using nouns (naming words) and adjectives (describing words) to describe a scene from the story.
In Maths, we will be continuing to focus on the numbers 0 to 10. This week we will be finding one less than numbers to 10, comparing groups of objects by matching them together and using the terms ‘fewer’, ‘more’ and ‘the same as’ in our comparisons.
In RE, we will be discussing what the story of the Lost Son means to Christians and how they put their belief that God is a forgiving and loving Father into practise.
In Art, we will be looking at self-portraits by different artists and starting to draw our own portraits.
In Science work we will be talking about the properties of different everyday materials.
Willow Class has PE on Tuesday and Thursday morning. The children will be continuing to develop their ball skills. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on these days.
