Term 6 Week 3

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 17th June 2024.

This week we will be completing reading, writing and maths assessments to check the progress the children are making.

In our main Maths lessons, we will be doing some work on unitising and starting to learn about sequencing events during the day. As part of our fluency work, we will be comparing groups and recall number bonds for numbers up to 10.

In RE, we will be learning about the core beliefs of Buddhism and will listen to the story of Siddhartha and the Swan. We will then complete some activities linked to this.

On Tuesday, Year 1 will be visiting Scotney Castle to look at the flowers that we can see in the grounds as part of our Science investigation. Children need to bring a packed lunch with them (unless parents have already ordered a school packed lunch for them). Children should wear school uniform but can wear trainers on that day as we will be walking around the site quite a lot.

On Wednesday, an author called Alex Brooks will be coming to visit us and we will be doing some work based on her books.

In Computing, we will be using Scratch Junior as part of our programming module and we will be learning to move a sprite more than one step at a time.

If you have any questions or need help with anything, please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
