Term 1 Week 4
Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 25th September 2023.
In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write words containing the ‘ie’ digraph (such as pie, tie and fried). We will also be reading the words ‘oh’ and ‘their’ and writing the words ‘come’ and ‘some’.
In English this week, we are going to focus on the book ‘You be You’ by Linda Kranz. We will be using the format of the story to write sentences using the words “Some fish___”.
In Maths, we will be continuing to focus on the numbers 0 to 10. This week we will be comparing groups of objects and using the terms ‘fewer’, ‘more’ and ‘the same as’ in our comparisons. We will also be learning about the maths vocabulary less than (<), more than (>) and equal to (=).
In RE, we will be discussing examples of how Christians put their beliefs about God into practice in worship.
In Art, we will be looking at self-portraits by different artists and starting to draw our own portraits. In Science work we will be talking about the properties of different everyday materials and the stages of human development.
Willow Class has PE on Monday morning and Thursday morning. The children will be continuing to develop their ball skills in team games. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on these days.
