Term 3, week 5
It was so lovely to be back with the children last week, seeing all the great week they completed while I was away and hearing all their news. I can’t believe this is the last week of this term already, and we have a very busy week ahead.
Again, in maths this week, we will continue to look at multiplication and division, continuing to use the three times table to build on our fluency and then moving to using the four times table to multiply and divide. Mrs Tompsett is aiming to finish the money unit this week too.
In English this week, we are building skills in order to write a persuasive text after half-term, so we will be looking at exploring conjunctions, expressing opinion, and using commands and rhetorical questions.
Whole class reading will continue with Charlotte’s Web, by E.B. White, and we will also be sharing some of Mrs Duncombe’s books which feature stories from around the UK, to complement our geography topic work.
In topic, continuing with a geography focus, we will recap our knowledge about the seven continents of the world, before exploring facts and features of England as part of our overall United Kingdom enquiries.
In RE this week, the children will be learning about the 5Ks and why these are important to Khalsa Sikhs.
Maple class have PE on Thursdays and Fridays, both sessions will be with Mr Luckhurst.
Homework will be sent out on Tuesday as usual, with details also on the class blog. Reading Records should come into school daily and will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. I have noticed that some children have not been bringing their reading records into school, a couple suggesting that they have lost theirs. If you are aware of this, can you please ask your child to have another look at home and then let me know so we can provide a new record book. We ask that the children aim to read daily, ideally with an adult and please do write a comment in their reading records to tell us how they are getting on. We are encouraging the children to be more independent with their homework and reading records, so please do remind them to put the relevant books in the basket in class.
As usual, I am happy to answer any questions you may have so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
Best wishes
