MORNING
1. Maths
1. Today we are learning about multiples of 10,100 and 1,000. Please watch White Rose Learning Video and the link is vimeo.com/475824701. Please remember to pause the video when you need to do calculations and give yourself plenty of time. Also remember that the answers are always given by the person who is presenting the videos. Remember to also show any of your working out. I have also uploaded the White Rose worksheet and answer sheet. If you feel confident I have also uploaded Classroom Secrets power point slides to work through about multiples of 10, 100 and 1,000 and a Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheets. Work through your normal worksheet.
2. English
1. Here are our new spellings for the week. This week we are learning to spell words that end in either ‘able’, ‘ably’, ‘ible’ or ‘ibly’. Copy out each of our new spellings neatly, 5 times each, to help you learn the spellings and as a Handwriting activity. To help you learn the spellings write them as a ‘Spelling Pyramid’. Remember how you must join up your letters:
considerable considerably comfortable comfortably possible possibly terrible terribly incredible incredibly
Now put each spelling into a sentence to show that you understand the meaning of each word. If you are unsure of the meaning of a word remember to look it up in a dictionary. Can you include a subordinate clause? Can you put a comparative conjunction in your sentence, for example as well as, also, equally, similarly, likewise? Can you use a contrasting conjunction, for example, alternatively, although, whereas, while, in contrast, however, despite? Can you write a relative clause using a relative pronoun, for example that, who, whom, which, whatever, where? Can you include some speech marks in your sentences? What other words for ‘said’ can you use? For example, answered, replied, shouted, whispered, sighed, shrieked. ‘Street Child’ is full of dialogue and has many examples in the text. Can you include a modal verb? Remember to use a range of punctuation. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INCLUDE ALL OF THESE IN EACH SENTENCE.
2. For your ‘Talk for Writing’ activity please complete the ‘Finish the Sentence’ sheet on page 6.
AFTERNOON
3. Reading
Please remember to read independently for 40 minutes! I have uploaded a Learning Video of me reading Chapters 8 and 9 of ‘Street Child’. I would like you to follow the text as I read, please. You can then read it independently. This is the link:
4. RE
First of all, I would like you to create a ‘conscience alley’ for Moses and the Pharaoh. Put yourself firstly in the position of Moses and then in the position of the Pharaoh after the eighth plague (locusts). Both men must have been torn. Moses having to follow God’s will in attempting to get the slaves released but on the other hand seeing the suffering of the Egyptians and that the Pharaoh is not giving up. Pharaoh wanting to keep the Hebrews as slaves but on the other hand seeing how his people are suffering. Divide a piece of paper in half and jot down their thoughts. Now work through Sessions 3 and 4 of the Diocese Plans.
