Term 4 Week 2

Here is an outline of your learning for term 4, week 2:
Term 4 Week 2 – overview
Each week we are fortunate to have a ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence. This year, this will take place on a Monday afternoon. Instruments are provided by the school.
Spelling and grammar –we will be learning words with the -ous ending.
In English, we will be completing our rainforest books. We will then work on building more interesting sentences, by using richer adjectives and adverbs. We will then independently complete a descriptive paragraph.
In Maths, we will be calculating the perimeter of rectilinear shapes, finding missing lengths of rectilinear shapes and calculating the perimeter of polygons.
In RE, we will begin a new unit on Salvation, by asking ‘why do Christians call the day Jesus died, Good Friday?’ We will be thinking about Judas’ betrayal of Jesus and the possible reasons behind this.
In Science, we will be learning about the behaviour and arrangement of particles in solids, liquids and gases.
At the end of last term, we began a DT project on sculpting using materials that would otherwise go into landfill. Our polar bears have dried over half-term, and I know we are all looking forward to painting them and adding their features.
PE is on Monday morning with Mrs Barter and on Thursday afternoon with Mrs Tompsett. This term we are going to be focusing on fundamental skills and net games in tennis.
Reading records will be sent home, with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme. All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class. Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due on the following Monday.
