Term 2, week 2

As some of you may already know, the children will be designing and making their own unique Christmas/winter decorations. They should be asking for cardboard boxes and other recycled materials! Thank you to those parents and carers who have already sent items in, and please support your child with resources if possible. We would also be grateful for any donations of masking tape or double-sided tape, if you have any to spare at home.

In English this week, we will be using the Stone Aged themed text to look at figurative language and free verse poetry.

Our Whole Class Reading this week will be an extract from The Boy who Grew Dragons.  We will be discussing the text, looking at vocabulary and answering comprehension questions.

In Maths, we are continuing the Addition and Subtraction unit, focusing on adding and subtracting 1s, 10s and 100s, and spotting patterns.

We will continue our Stone Age Topic work this week, considering what grave goods tell us about life at that time.

In Science, we will continue the nutrition and diet unit, specifically investigating more about the five food groups.

In Design Technology, we will begin making our Christmas/winter light decoration.

PE is on a Monday and Friday this term, and we will continue hockey this week. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please do email on the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards
