This Week's Learning
Term 1 Week 4
In English and Communication we are creating a first-person description of The Great Fire of London. We are going to use prepositional and expanded noun phrases to create descriptive sentences. Next, we will create sentences which show and/or tell the audience how the character was feeling. Finally, we will use an exclamation sentence to finish our writing.
In Phonics, we will revisit and practise the Level 5 Sounds and Tricky Words that we learnt in Year 1.
In Guided Reading we will answer Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explanation and Sequencing questions about 'The Tin Forest' by Helen Ward.
In Maths, we will use our understanding of Place Value to compare and order amounts and numbers.
In Time and Place we will explore the causes of the Great Fire of London. In order to help us, we will complete a virtual guided tour of the Museum of London.
In Science and Computing, we will explore the benefits of Information Technology. We will then complete a designing task using both Information Technology and pen and pencil. We will then explore the benefits and drawbacks of using IT.
In PE, we will be learning about and playing invasion games. We will also complete Mastering Number and Design and the Arts activities as well.
