Term 1 Week 3

Here is an outline of your learning for term 1, week 3:

Term 1 Week 3 – overview

Each week we are fortunate to have a ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence.  This year, this will take place on a Monday afternoon.  Instruments are provided by the school.

Spelling and grammar –we will be practising words with an ‘s’ sound, but an ‘sc’ spelling, such as science and scene.  We will also be working on correctly setting out and punctuating direct speech.

In English, we will be completing start of year reading and writing assessments.  

In Maths, we will be completing start of year arithmetic and reasoning assessments.

In RE, we will continue our unit on Creation.  We will be considering what Christians learn from the text of Genesis and linking it to how to care for creation.

This term we are learning about sound in Science.  This week we will be thinking about how pitch can be varied by carrying out an experiment.

In Computing, the pupils will be covering the World Wide Web.

PE is on Monday morning with Mrs Barter and on a Thursday afternoon with Mrs Tompsett.   This term we are going to be practising football and basketball skills.

Reading records will be sent home with free-reading children choosing a book from the selection in class or bringing one from the reading scheme.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  

Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due in on the following Monday.
