Term 4, week 3
It was lovely to see the children dressed up for World Book Day, and there was a very interesting mix of characters! The children have been writing their own books, which we will finish tomorrow.
In maths this week, we will be continuing with our multiplication and division unit, practising the methods we learnt last week and then working on some number problems later in the week.
In English this week, we will finish out individual books and then re-focus on the persuasive writing strategies. This week we will consider the use of conjunctions, investigating how they can be used to improve our writing.
Whole class reading will continue with Leon and the Place Between, a beautifully illustrated book by Grahame Baker-Smith. We will end the week by summarising the story in our own words.
In our topic work this week, we will focus on more human and physical features of the United Kingdom.
In RE this week, the children will continue with the Salvation Unit, further building on identifying why Christians call the day Jesus died ‘Good Friday’.
Maple class have PE on Thursdays and Fridays, both sessions will be with Mr Luckhurst.
On Friday, Mrs Tompsett will continue the touch-typing unit in ICT, do the spellings and times table tests and continue with the artwork based on 1950s posters. These are looking great!
Homework will be sent out on Tuesday as usual, with details also on the class blog. Reading Records should come into school daily and will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We ask that the children aim to read daily, ideally with an adult and please do write a comment in their reading records to tell us how they are getting on. We are encouraging the children to be more independent with their homework and reading records, so please do remind them to put the relevant books in the basket in class.
As usual, I am happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
Best wishes
