This Week's Learning
Term 4 Week 4
In Time and Place, we are going to focus on creating pieces of persuasive writing related to who should become the next king of England in the year 1066. We will use a range of sentence openers and conjunctions to join together our ideas. We will then debate our ideas as a class and vote on who we think should be king. Finally, we will find out about what actually happened and learn about the events leading up to the Norman invasion.
In Phonics we are learning how to use the 'mb' digraph to make the /m/ sound. For example: crumb, comb, thumb and lamb.
Our grammar focus is to use alphabetical order to help us understand and use dictionaries.
In Maths we are going to continue to learn about how to measure length and height. We will use meter sticks and a scale drawing to help us measure parts of the playground. We will also use rulers to measure and order lengths and heights of items in the classroom. Finally, we will explore how our understanding of multiplication and division can be applied to calculate with lengths and heights.
In Science and Computing we will use chrome music lab to create percussion-based compositions to accompany our puppetry performances.
In Design and the Arts we will use junk modelling equipment to create puppets which can move.
We will also complete Guided Reading. Mastering Number, PE and RE activities as well.
