This Week's Learning

Term 3 Week 1

In English and Communication this week, we are going to turn our attention to traditional tales involving knights and castles. We will read a range of traditional tales and pick out their key features and conventions. Next, we will read a range of texts where these traditional conventions have been broken. We will record our ideas and revisit them when we come to plan our own knights and castles story. Next, we will turn our attention towards instruction writing.

In Phonics, we will be adding -er and -est suffixes to words ending in 'y'. Our tricky words will be 'poor' and 'great'. Our grammar focus will be using adjectives to create expanded noun phrases.

In Maths, we will revisit the learning we completed in Addition and Subtraction. We will then explore how to add and subtract two 2-digit numbers which cross a 10s barrier.

In Science and Computing, we will start our Programming unit of work. We will explore how to give and receive instructions and focus on delivering instructions which are clear and unambiguous.

In PE, we will begin our Gymnastics and Dance units of study.

We will also complete Guided Reading, Mastering Number, Design and the Arts and PHSCE sessions as well.
